  Overleden: John William Edward Ray, 77, of South Bend, passed away on May 31, 2006, following an extended illness. John was born in Newtown, Illinois, on the 30th of March, 1929, the fourth child of Otho Roy and Mary Florence (Joiner) Ray. He was preceded in death by his parents, as well as a brother, Harold Ray of Ogden, IL, and a sister, Marion Bailey of Anaheim, CA. Johnnie was active in school as a member of several clubs, i.e. Glee, Drama, Thespian, Chorus and Gentleman. He lettered in football, track and baseball. In 1947 John graduated from Oakwood Township High School and set out to make his mark in the world. It was there that he met and would wed Dorothy Jean Einhaus of Seneca, IL. He begat four children, John Edward (Patty) Ray of Granger, Sally Jean (Robert) McCarley of Mooresville, NC, Charles Otho (Margaret) Ray of South Bend and David Joseph (Lori) Ray of South Bend.
